Celebrating our daughters' 13th anniversary

I'm obsessed with river rocks

I just don't know what it is about river rocks.  I can't get enough of them.  If you look closely at my kitchen cabinets, each of the knobs is a river rock.  My hubby made them for me as a Christmas gift several years ago.  It wasn't an easy job, and he had to make a bunch of them!  I love them so much.  I'm thinking of doing another river rock project.  I'm going to ask Santa Elf for some more rock knobs.  I think I need one for my medicine cabinet and also for the cabinets in the laundry room.  I doubt that I've been good enough this year to get these, but I'll put in my request.  I also have a table runner made of really small smooth river rocks.  I have it on our sofa table and I love it every time I see it.  Hubby gave me that for my birthday years ago.  What would I do without him!?  I'll try tonight taking a photo of the runner and posting it later today.

Make it a great day!

First photo was a success!

For some reason, I was unable to post a photo from my laptop at home.  Today, during my lunchtime at work, I tried it and it worked!  I was so excited.  I think the internet connection I have at work is a whole lot quicker than what I have out in the middle of nowhere.  I'm going to practice posting some of the tablescapes I've used lately for our family dinners.  I am inspired by so many bloggers and their decorating ideas, maybe some day I will inspire someone also.  Make it a great day~MT

One of my favorite Home Improvements

I am definitely a newbie at this blog thing.  Right now, I feel like a fish out of water.  I'm going to attempt to post a photo of the river rock backsplash my son and husband put up in our kitchen.  I love to decorate with items from nature and reclaimed wood.  Just the other day, I happened to notice that I don't have one piece of artwork in my home.  Old wooden shutters, an old bottom half of a dutch door, old architectural elements are some of my favorite things to decorate with.

My very first posting

My family left for their respective homes on Sunday after a whirlwind day of fun and games.  We had a great meal of stuffed pork chops, mashed potatoes, broccoli and cheese casserole, and home made bread.  I made cake pops from Bakerella.com.  They were a big hit.
My usual days off from work are Sunday and Monday, so I was really glad to have yesterday off so I could clean up the house and get the laundry done.  Made one trip to my favorite consignment store, as they have now doubled in size and I didn't want to miss any new items that I thought I might need.  I found a beautiful lamp for my bedside.  It is taller than the one I had which will aid with my reading space.  Once I get the hang of this blogging thing, I'll take photos and include them.  I know that is one of my favorite things about the blogs I routinely read.....pics, the more they have, the happier I am.
